The Secret Sauce in Hiring Sales Superstars
July 31, 2025Recruiting . . . Is It Really This Difficult?
October 30, 2025| For 25 years, I have used Job Boards at Safari Solutions to help clients hire professionals. And, boy, have they evolved over the years! In 1999, we started using Monster. Created in 1994, Monster was one of the first commercial web sites; not just the first career web site. Over the years, many new career sites have launched. CareerBuilder, DICE, Linkedin, Indeed, Glassdoor, ZipRecruiter, and many more are sites we have used. So, what is the status of job boards today after 25 years in terms of functionality and benefit as a recruiting tool? First, we still use job boards for every search. Second, job boards cost a lot more. Third, job boards are more technically challenging to use. It is the “technically challenging” aspect that is my focus today. Serving our owner-managed businesses (under 100 FTEs), we primarily use LinkedIn and Indeed. Two different birds for sure. And fierce competitors. It seems these sites tweak their platforms and adjust their algorithms every year. In 2018, I had a special troubleshooting session with LinkedIn’s development team. Microsoft had recently purchased LinkedIn and made massive changes, many of which did not work properly. Unfortunately, it was 6-12 months before they made the corrections and changes that I recommended. Frustrating for sure. Years ago, it was easy to post a job, let it ride and manage applicant flow. Not anymore. To get results, we must manage the postings every few days to edit keyword search, compensation, titles, location, skills, content, etc. I won’t bore you with all the technical aspects of managing postings on job boards. Let’s just say, it takes skill, experience and time to achieve desired results. Many of our clients have partially given up on job boards in their own efforts. Lack of advanced recruiter subscriptions and lack of experience with the strategies to make the boards produce results are the key reasons. Thus, many companies turn to us to manage job boards for them. Bottom line for businesses, job boards still work if used effectively. Yet, count on constant change with these platforms and be prepared to spend time and invest in recruiting subscriptions to achieve desired candidate flow. Feel free to reach out to us if you need help in producing recruiting results. Wishing you an amazing year in 2025! Current job opportunities with our clients! https://jobs.safarisolutions.com/ |
